Self-Control

I am interested in the processes and dynamics of self-regulation. In particular, I am interested in the self-control dilemma, which is when long-term goals conflict with short-term temptation. My work explores how individuals go about recognizing self-control conflict and, once recognized, how they resolve self-control conflict. Moreover, I am interested in the more general question of how to improve self-control.

Hedonic Judgment

In a seperate but related line of research, I study how we make judgments about our own happiness and well-being. In particular, I am interested in the role of context and how it relates to different modes of judgment, i.e. prospective vs. real-time vs. retrospective judgment.
